The Best of Moscow Weather

The climate in Russia changes dramatically with the seasons. Moscow is best for travel in late spring or early autumn, just before and after the peak tourist season. Moscow weather is always unpredictable, but you are most apt to encounter pleasantly warm and sunny days in late May and late August. July and August are the warmest months of Moscow weather and the main holiday season for those who travel to Moscow and Russians. Summer days are long and can be wet. By the end of November Moscow is frozen most of the time and serious snow arrives in December and stays until April. Spring arrives fast and with a great thaw, a month or so long, and people go a touch crazy.

In winter months, Moscow is covered in an attractive blanket of snow. But only the hardiest tourists should travel to Moscow between late November and early February, when the days are short and dark and the Moscow weather is often bitterly cold.
